The Creation Story

Room 7 children all contributed to the creation of The Creation Story. With support from Whaea Amanda, children learned to record voices with Garageband and create, add narration and edit the movie with I-Movie. It was a Technological process, with planning, creating, reviewing, editing, changing and presenting.

I am very proud of your efforts Room 7. You showed creativity, perseverance, teamwork and the ability to reflect, review and edit.

We Are Learning to Recall Our Basic Facts

We have been learning basic maths facts using a Whole Brain Teaching method by Chris Biffle.

We sit in pairs and one person answers the facts and the other partner reads the answers and checks that their buddy is answering them correctly. They help out when it is needed.

Children have one minute to answer as many facts as they can and try to beat their previous personal scores.

They are seeing the basic facts, listening to the basic facts and saying the basic facts.

Our International Dance

We performed an Asian style beautiful fan dance and an amazing dragon dance.
We had so much fun and we looked very cool.
We used paper and ice block sticks to make our fans and we used recycled boxes from our Fruit in Schools and bits of paper, material and wool to make our three dragons.

A big thank you to Piri's Dad for the footage!

Super Hero Recount Writing

Our whole class shared writing

Kowhai Team’s Super Hero Day
On Thursday the 17th of March, Tongariro School’s Kowhai Team had a Super Hero Day to celebrate being heroes.

First, Whaea Amanda took photos of all the children, from Room Seven, once they were dressed in their hero costume. She used her broken IPhone.

Next, all the children from Kowhai Team walked, as quiet as little mice, in a line through a secret door that led to the hall. The Super Heroes walked up the steps and onto the stage while, "One Call Away” was playing through the speakers. Family and friends took photos of the Kowhai Team Super Heroes, while they were on stage.

Then, the Super Heroes made the crowd smile and clap by performing fantastic dances and a fun song.

Finally, everybody walked to Room Two to eat the best shared lunch you have ever seen. We were even given a colourful toffee apple to take home.

We loved every part of our day. We are very grateful to our families for helping us with our costumes and our lunch.
